Meeting the new babies

Pictures of my weekend can be found here

Had a fun, busy weekend. On Friday, Catherine and I went to visit her friend Ashley and new 2 week old baby, Murphy. He was such a peanut! So cute. Check out the picture of Ashley’s mom, Ashley, the weird kitchen countertop lamp post in the rented house, Catherine and baby Murphy.

Also got to visit with my new best beagle buddies, Russell & Riki. The way they sit on the couch is hysterical.

Catherine and I stopped at the big Super Wal-mart in Windham on our way home and got to view some interesting folk to say the least. Then we stopped at Wendy’s for dinner (across from Wal-mart) and saw even more interesting folk. My favorite was the 20 year old guy that came in from the parking lot, went straight for the ketchup dispensers, filled about 6 mini cups of ketchup and left. I wondered aloud if he was a meth addict and that was probably his dinner.

On Saturday, I had some unexpected car trouble (battery) with my cursed Honda. The car hates me. I will be getting my revenge soon by selling it. Ha-Ha.. I WIN!

Then stopped at Mom’s house to drop off some Easter goodies and get some Easter goodies from mom. Check out the fantastic cookies that Mom (Martha) decorated – LOVE THEM!

Then I was off to Cassie’s to meet the man of the hour, Nando! The dog is a ham – loves people, kisses, the camera, and is a bit of a tag-along. He is too funny!

One surprise of the day was seeing that our friend, Trish, has busted up her face (has stitches) in an unfortunate mountain bike accident. It normally wouldn’t be something to joke about, but poor Trish has busted up her face in the past in an unfortunate moped accident – Trish needs to stay away from things on 2 wheels from now on. You can see the damage in one of the pictures.

Mike made us a lovely dinner and got to see the Wii in action. A lovely night was had by all. I made mini s’mores cupcakes to celebrate the event. YUM!

Tomorrow, I’m off to upstate NY with Mom & Bill to get a new border collie puppy at Glenhighland Farm (a border collie rescue) – YAHOO! Will post pics of the new baby tomorrow.

My 2nd pair of socks – Done!

img_0744.jpgimg_0738.jpgimg_0743.jpg

So I finally finished my 2nd pair of knit socks ever. I LOVE the way they came out (although *shockingly* they are a tad bit big on my humongous size 10 feet, so I’m going to have to shrink them in the dryer a little bit).

Pattern is called Jaywalker and they were a lot of fun to knit.

The yarn was hand-dyed by StashUpYarns on etsy.com. She has beautiful yarn.

Now I’m a little sock obsessed and can’t wait to start on the next pair.

Can I just say, ewwwwww?

Interesting story of the day…. Due to an extreme case of phobia, woman stays on toilet in bathroom for two years, skin grows around toilet seat and she has to be rescued.

Now I’ve spent some time on the toilet, but never to this extent!

My new favorite song lyric

“I’d buy you Rogaine
If you start losing all your hair” (ok, so that’s 8 syllables)
Such a happy song!

Song Title: The Way I am
Artist: Ingrid Michaelson

Great song – weird video!

Arrrggggghhh! Pirate Cupcakes

img_0731.jpg

Went to a lovely, pirate-themed, pre-cruise party (cruising in mid-April) at Sue’s house tonight with Jayne, Steve, Eric, Jason & Becca. Sue has a really cute condo in Ellington. She went all out with decorations and such. Met her neighbor’s beagle/golden retriever cross named Scooby (looks mostly like a beagle but is all tan with some white on his paws and chest). Scooby was a love. Sue has 3 cats, but only one of them was sociable.

I brought some pirate cupcakes to the event – I got the idea from http://cupcakestakethecake.blogspot.com/2007/10/pirate-cupcakes.html. Check out the cool pirate I put on the middle cupcake.

We also played Mexican Train dominos – I kicked butt for the second time in a row… I ROCK! Becca was in the lead for most of the game, but I pulled out the win in the end.

The party was lots of fun and now I’m sad that we have to move the clocks ahead 1 hour. 1 hour of less sleep for me (but I don’t have to go to work until 2pm tomorrow so that’s not too bad! – Yay for Spring Break hours at the library).

I also saw my mom and Bailey before I went to the party (Bill was working). Got lots of Bailey love and I gave mom the first pair of socks that I knit – she loved them.

I can’t wait to finish the pair that I’m working on for me. Oh, and I also stopped at the yarn store before I went to mom’s and bought some more yarn and tiny needles for knitting socks – bad, Lisa, bad!
